Coach has been KILLING IT over the past couple of years! They’ve been taking advantage of influencer marketing and using popular Millenial/Gen Z celebrities in their PR lately, and their designs have been fire. I’ve always been a fan of Coach’s leather, but they fell off a little during everyone’s Michael Kors phase (no tea, no shade to anyone who has been a loyal fan of either brand during the 2000’s). The Pillow Tabby Shoulder Bag popped up all over my social media channels a couple of months ago, and once I saw her in store, I knew she was the ivory bag I’ve been searching for.
The Coach Pillow Tabby
The Coach Tabby bag is a 70’s icon in its own right and was something on my wishlist over the past couple of years, and for whatever reason I didn’t jump to get any of the bags on my list… but when I saw the Pillow Tabby, I couldn’t resist. It looks like a higher-end designer bag without the price tag to match. Coach is known for its leather products, so although getting the ivory bag was a bold choice, I trust that it’ll hold up over time with a little help from Apple Garde. The Pillow Tabby Shoulder Bag 26 comes in pink, black, and green as well on Coach’s website (affiliate link) and I’ve seen a couple other colors in different stores via other people’s Instagram stories and TikToks. It currently retails for $495, but you can apply department store coupon codes to the bag for the most part. There are two detachable straps, a shoulder strap and a crossbody strap, so you can wear the bag a total of three ways– four if you count wearing it with both straps hooked on at once.
There are three compartments inside; two bigger compartments separated by a zipped compartment, perfect for a card case and loose change. The measurements according to the Coach website are: 10 1/4″ (L) x 6″ (H) x 3″ (W).
First Impression
My first impression was that I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I walked into the Coach store at Disney Springs. Although I liked how the Coach Pillow Tabby looked online, it could have gone either way in-person. Thankfully she is STUNNING irl. I’m not sure why I was concerned about the puffiness of the bag since I’m full figured and nearly 5’10”, but I tried the bag on in store and was happy with how it looked on. If you’re on the smaller side, I recommend trying the bag on in-store if you’re able to in order to get an idea of how the bag will lay on you as a shoulder bag and a crossbody bag before you commit to anything.
The only concern I have at the moment is whether the bag will get dirty after a day out, but I’m going to protect the leather ASAP.
What Fits?
I’m able to fit my daily essentials in the bag; AirPods, sunglasses (with case in the picture, but I probably wouldn’t bring the case irl– just a protective cloth bag), my iPhone 12 Pro with case, hand sanitizer, card case (in the zippered compartment but not pictured), lipstick, and earrings. It’ll also easily fit a mask. I’m not sure if having all of that in the Coach Pillow Tabby will put strain on my body by the end of the day, but I’ll update this post if there’s anything to add.
Overall, I think it’s a great year-round staple that elevates any outfit without (completely) breaking the bank. I went with a neutral because I really needed an ivory bag, but the pink and green are equally stunning.
