It feels like I’ve been trying to build a capsule wardrobe for years, and I think my fall capsule wardrobe is finally coming together. This fall, I’ve incorporated a few new pieces into my fall capsule wardrobe that I think work beautifully: a silky brown button-down shirt, an oversized black blazer, and a pair of loafers.
Silky Button-Down
There’s just something about silky button-downs in general… whether fitted or oversized, they’re definitely a fall capsule wardrobe staple. I recently picked up a brown button-down from H&M and I’m obsessed with it! I paired it with a white mini skirt and knee-high boots in this Matilda Djerf Pinterest-inspired look, but you can also take the look to the office with a pair of cream or black slacks and cute flats or kitten heels. You could also wear it mostly unbuttoned with jeans for a cute nighttime look. My favorite places to stock up on them are Zara, H&M, and Goodwill (best place for 100% silk, tbh). I also have my eye on a few silky button-downs from Aritzia to add to my fall capsule wardrobe in the future.
Oversized Black Blazer + Loafers
This is another must-have item for your fall capsule wardrobe. The oversized silhouette is a welcome departure from the fitted, business-casual-but-also-wear-to-the-club blazers from the late 2000s-early 2010s and is currently sold everywhere. I got my blazer from the men’s section at Goodwill (and scored some other really nice oversized blazers in other colors as well), and it’s a dream. I’m looking forward to wearing my blazers with trousers, jeans, and shorts and incorporating them into my travel capsule wardrobe in the future.
Loafers have come back in a major way this fall, but I’ve been eyeing a pair of Gucci loafers for the past two years. For now, I’m happy with adding the ASOS DESIGN Storm chunky mid heeled loafers in black patent (pictured) to my fall capsule wardrobe; I love how interesting the patent leather looks with the platforms. I paired it in this post with the H&M puff-sleeved crop top, Abercrombie pleated mini skort in black, Gipsy frill ankle socks in black (also from ASOS). It’s been a lot of fun playing around with different Silly Socks and tights with the loafers. I think they look just as interesting with a pleated skirt, cropped blouse, and oversized blazer as they do with straight-leg jeans and a turtleneck – all staple items in my fall capsule wardrobe.
What will you be adding, or what have you added, to your fall capsule wardrobe this year?
