Last Tuesday was one of the most magical nights of my life. I got to celebrate the worldwide release of the Disney Aladdin Collection by MAC with an advanced screening of the new, live-action version of Disney’s Aladdin…aka my favorite Disney movie! My best friend, Peter, invited me to be his plus one, so of course I said yes.
MAC lovers from near and far were invited to take part in the night’s festivities. MAC Disney Springs really knew how to put on an event! At the end of the night, all attendees received the The Disney Aladdin Collection by MAC Collector’s Vault, which contains all 13 items in the collection and is now sold out on their website.
I haven’t been this excited for a MAC collection since their Disney’s Cinderella collection a few years ago, and I must say MAC really knocked it out of the park with this WOC-friendly collection.
The Contents
The Disney Aladdin Collection consists of four lipsticks, three lip glasses, one pigment, a x9 eyeshadow palette, Technakohl eyeliner, two powder blushes, and a crystal glaze gloss, totaling $310.
The lighter of the powder blushes ($35 each), Always One Jump Ahead, is a gold with gold shimmer, so it’s most easily used as a highlight. The darker one, Your Wish is My Command, is best used as a contour color, or as a blush. The Princess Jasmine x 9 palette ($35) is perfect for smoky looks with some warmth.
The lip products are amazing. My favorite shade of lipstick from the collection ($20 each) is Whole New World, which is a pink velvet matte (second from the left in the first picture), and happens to be Princess Jasmine’s signature lip in the actual movie. It’s sold out on the MAC website, but you can call your local stores/MAC retailers to track it down.
Each lipglass ($19 each) is equally stunning, as you’ll see in the swatches below. They’re beautiful on their own or over the lipsticks in the collection.
Swatches
It’s 2019, and I still haven’t gotten better with my swatches. My first impression of the Princess Jasmine x 9 palette is that I didn’t have any problems with pigmentation, and there’s a good balance of shimmers (frost finish) to mattes. You can also use the palette to achieve Princess Jasmine’s signature look in the movie.
L to R: Crystal Glaze Gloss, Rose pigment, Powder Blush in Your Wish is My Command, and Powder Blush in Always One Jump Ahead
The Rose pigment ($24) is a standout here, although it’s no stranger to MAC. You can use a small amount on the cheeks as a blush, or add some shimmer to your eye look. I highly recommend picking it up in this specialized packaging! Your Wish is My Command is just barely darker than my skintone, so I can’t use it alone as a contour, but I can definitely layer it on to my contour or use it as a blush.
L to R: Magic Carpet Ride lipglass, Jewels on Jewels lipglass, Diamond in the Rough lipglass, Whole New World lipstick, Rajah lipstick, Friend Like Me lipstick, Princess Incognito
The majority of the lipsticks are a matte finish, and swatch like they might be patchy on the lips. I had good luck with Whole New World on my lips, so hopefully not all of the lipsticks are patchy. The lipglasses are probably my favorite ones MAC has dropped so far!
Looks
I used the Princess Jasmine x 9 palette, both powder blushes (one as a contour and one as a highlight), Whole New World, Jewels on Jewels lipglass, and the Technakohl eyeliner.
The lip combo is one suggested by the MAC face chart that came with the collection we were gifted, and I think it’s a major lip combination for summer.
Overall, I am really impressed by the Disney Aladdin Collection by MAC and can see why some of it has already sold out! I can see the tones working on most, if not all, WOC. And as for the movie, I was really impressed with it, too. Make sure you check out both this weekend!
