I’ve done it. I have finally jumped on the Glossier bandwagon. Why? I’m a firm believer in taking care of your skin before worrying about makeup, which is Glossier’s take home message (literally). Also, my favorite color is pink, so their packaging may or may not have sealed the deal for me.
I’ve decided to review my first Glossier products for you all!
As you can see, the packaging is on point from the moment you get the box. The “skin first. makeup second.” mantra is on the inside of the box, and it’s such a cute added touch!
Everything is so cute, down to the pink bubble wrap sleeve.
Okay, on to the entire purpose of this post. The products! I ended up trying two lip products to begin with, because the winter air has not been kind to my lips, and I really need a ‘my lips but better’ lipstick that wouldn’t be drying while at work for eight hours. Enter the Flavored Balm Dotcom in Cherry, and Generation G Matte Lipstick in Leo.
I used the balm as an overnight salve for my lips, and when I woke up the next morning, my lips were super soft! The key ingredients are castor seed oil, beeswax, cupuacu fruit extract, and rice bran and rosemary leaf extracts, so that’s why. The only thing I dislike is the tube it comes in, but it’s made to be a universal skin salve, so the tube makes it easier for other uses. Glossier’s site describes the balm to have a “sheer, juicy red tint” which you can clearly see on my arm, but my lips are really pigmented, so it’s a little harder to see on them. The cherry scent isn’t my favorite, but the smell isn’t overwhelming or anything!
Matte lipstick is a very loose term I would use when describing Generation G. It doesn’t feel like a matte at all, and it gives me more of a satin lip pencil or lip tint vibe. Leo is one of those ‘my lips but better’ shades, which is why I chose it. The key ingredients are triple coated mica, blue agave, safflower oil, and C10-18 triglycerides, which help seal moisture into the lips and give the lipstick its smooth texture. Perfect for long days at school or work.
The thing I really enjoy about Glossier is that you can get high quality skincare products and makeup that enhances your natural beauty without the hefty price tag. To be honest, I don’t wear makeup every day, and since it’s usually hot in Florida, I try to stay away from heavy makeup. So if you like the ‘no makeup makeup look,’ or you want to try a new skincare routine, give Glossier a try! And if you want, you can use my Glossier BFF link to shop: http://bff.glossier.com/eVjNM
