For as long as I can remember, I’ve been celebrating my birthday at Disney, and this year was no different. After going to EPCOT for the Food and Wine Festival in the fall, I decided to check out their Flower and Garden Festival. In addition to the various food stands brought out just for the festival, there were beautiful garden sculptures featuring some of Disney’s most beloved characters. It was unusually hot this weekend, so I looked to this month’s Coachella trends to come up with an outfit.
Okay, so the wide legged pants aren’t a new trend, but I have been so hesitant to try them. As I’ve said before, I’m really self conscious about my thighs, so every time I saw a picture of stick thin girls in palazzo pants, I would think “that’s so cute on them, I wish I could rock those pants without feeling like a whale.” I was perusing the Zara website one day and came across the printed loose-fit trousers that I’m wearing in the picture, and I decided that if I saw them in the store next time I went, I would get over my negative attitude and just go ahead and try them.
I’m so glad I did! The pants are absolutely beautiful and fit well – they just stretch out a little bit in the waistband if you wear them all day like I did. I’m not sure how well someone shorter than me will are in them (I’m 5’9″ and a half), because I had to wear a small chunky heel so the pants wouldn’t drag on the ground. They’re also very breezy and perfect for the heat. You can buy the pants here on Zara’s website.
I was originally going to pair the pants with a basic crop top from American Apparel, but I came across the Ecote Vanessa Crochet Bra Top from Urban Outfitters. It’s also perfect for Florida’s hot and humid weather.

And here are some pictures from the highlights of the day – the Butterflies on the Go butterfly garden, the Elsa sculpture, and fireworks!
As for the food, it was kind-of a disaster, because my friends and I got extremely full off of nachos (warning: one serving of nachos at EPCOT actually feeds 4-6 people, not a single person) and we didn’t really get to try any of the foods we wanted to try. For dinner, we ate at the Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco, and the food was really good. We got a tequila flight and the passion fruit frozen margaritas in Mexico, and they were both excellent! On the flip side, my friends and I made the mistake of getting a Shakin’ Jamaican at the Joffrey’s cart – the person who served us was having an off day and it just tasted like an expensive frosty from Wendy’s.
It also looks like a frosty from Wendy’s but in a Disney cup. And it’s not frozen like it was supposed to be. Boo.
All in all, I had a great time with my friends and I’m glad I got to spend another birthday at one of my favorite places in Florida, all while keeping (somewhat) cool in my music festival-inspired outfit.

love love love the outfit. I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of pants like that. Once I run into a good print 🙂

Thank you! It took me about a year to find a print/style that I really liked, but trust me it was so worth it!
